Kentish Plover

The Kentish Plover Charadrius alexandrinus is a small wader, present in Italy all year round; it is estimated that there are less than 2,000 pairs, showing a sharp decline in recent years, while in winter about 1,500 individuals are counted on average. It is found almost exclusively along sandy shores, rarely in wetlands in the interior. In the WWF Oasis of Valle Averto there are few individuals, generally in winter and during migrations.
